Maribelle: Day Seven of checking for weird birds in the tree circle. Probably not going to find anything but who knows. I need to stop talking to myself...
Walking sounds
Maribelle: Hey! Who are you? What are you doing?
Eleanor: Nothing I was-
Maribelle: Were the birds there when you got here?
Eleanor: Yes w-
Maribelle: Did you put them here?
Eleanor: No w-
Maribelle: Did you see who did?
Eleanor: No I-
Maribelle: Useless
Eleanor: Sorry I ain’t all that and a bag of chips.
Maribelle: Who even are you? I’ve never seen you here. I know everyone so why don’t I know you?
Eleanor: My name's Eleanor and I’m new in town. Seems like it’s a bad time to move in since that girl went missin’.
Maribelle: Her name is Penny and I’m here because I’m looking for her. She’s my …best friend.
Eleanor: Oh your Maribelle the Lezzie. My ma wouldn’t like it if we were hangin’ out.
Maribelle: Oh I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to offend your mom...Not! As if I give a rats ass.
Eleanor: Me either honestly. She’s so old fashioned. I heard about these birds y’all found and I wanted to come see them for myself. So I’ve been lookin’ for them for a few days.
Maribelle: How’d you find out?
Eleanor: My ma and I was picketin’ the witch store and I heard the owner talkin’ bout it.
Maribelle: Why were you picketing her shop?
Eleanor: Family activity accordin’ to my ma...it wasn’t my plan honest! Hand to God.
Maribelle: Okay...Well you found the birds. You wouldn’t happen to know anything about them.
Eleanor: Well they are bitten in half and then arranged in that double circle pattern. Kind of looks like a bullseye. Like maybe something is supposed to be put in the middle?
Maribelle: Like what?
Eleanor: Well, a bullseye would get an arrow. Y’all hunt any round here?
Maribelle: Yeah deer. But it’s not deer hunting season…
Eleanor: Oh! What if it’s a sign that whatever did this is out huntin’! Like for its own deer.
Maribelle: But who is the sign for?
Elenor: No clue, but I bet it’s someone. Or something?
Maribelle: Well, Willowdale has a myth that a long time ago a star fell to earth. Right here in these woods actually. When the star fell, it brought a guardian with it to earth to guard it’s magical abilities from those unworthy of it. Do you think this might be a sign from the Guardian?
Eleanor: Well, I mean no. That’s just a tall tale. Ain’t more real than the boogy-man.
Maribelle: Right...clearly this is something else...look I gotta go. Have a nice day Eleanor.
Eleanor: You too Maribelle.
Maribelle: She doesn’t know what she’s talking about...
